Our Mission
Artemis Cyclery strives to be a catalyst for a vibrant and inclusive cycling community in New Bedford and beyond for cyclists of all backgrounds, bodies, and abilities, offering professional service, curated products, and facilitating inclusive community cycling events. Our commitment is to foster diversity, equity, and unity while embracing the joy of riding a bicycle. We are not just a destination for quality bikes and service, but the heart of a brighter bicycling future.
We have a passion for riding bikes and encourage others to discover their bike joy. As a mobile bicycle shop, we have the freedom to be wherever our customers are, offering premium and accessible services as well as a curated selection of cycling accessories from companies and independent creators who share our values.
We chose the name Artemis Cyclery as a reminder to seek out new experiences, connect with nature, and discover our wild side, whether riding the trails in the great outdoors, traversing the bustling urban landscape, or even training in your living room.
Meet the Mechanic
Business owner and lead mechanic, David Civitarese (he/they) is a lifelong bicycle enthusiast and United Bicycle Institute Certified Professional Bicycle Technician.
He founded the New Bedford Starchasers, a self-described “cosmically inclusive superposi bicycle gang” dedicated to personal empowerment and joy through outreach and service. Here they get to be an artist, playing with bicycle geometry to build bizarre and “chromasonic” ridable sculptures! Learn more at www.scul.org!
David’s been a bike maintenance instructor at Youth Opportunities Unlimited, a bicycle mechanic at Yesteryear Cyclery, and he was the Lead Service Technician at adaptive bicycle shop Bike-On.
They are an avid cyclist who loves riding bikes of all kinds simply for the joy of it. Cycling is a great way to see the world, stay grounded and connect with the community. David believes that a well-loved and properly maintained bicycle can take you anywhere you want to go. He is currently on a mission to map every street in the city of New Bedford by bike.
